Laura Kalbag

Laura Kalbag is a designer easily excited by web design and development. Among her list of ever-changing pet subjects are mobile web, semantic web, web fonts and design theory, but she's really fascinated by anything in the areas of web, mobile and design.

Laura has been a freelancer for the whole of her professional life. She revels in working with small and meaningful clients, creating websites, apps, icons, illustrations and the odd logo.

Design Systems

Typography, colour, and grid theory are all part of a greater design system. We use these systems to create consistency and differentiation between our designs across platforms and devices, on both the web and in apps.

Laura will be discussing what makes up a design system, how we can use them for better responsive sites, and how they can help break down the complexity of modern design into deliberate and thoughtful decisions.

Front-end web architectures that won’t bite (you in the ass)

It’s easy to hack together complex HTML5 websites and stun the world with shiny boxes and rounded corners, but how do you expand it to a fully-fledged site? Steve will show you ways to structure your HTML/CSS/JS to make it testable, reusable and understandable.
